F+F school of art and design
heading into the start of the 2023 school year, a friend of ours in switzerland – thomas stöckli – reached out to discuss working on a project together. he was going to be teaching a photography class at the F+F school of art and design and wanted to collaborate on an assignment for the students.
it was an easy “yes,” and we sent out some product with a very loose guideline to help the students frame their approach. at the end of the project, our internal team went through all of the submissions, the students’ words on their inspiration and direction, and voted on our personal favourites. overall, it was a great experience enabling additional perspectives and creative approaches to photography – with the idea that running holds a different meaning for everyone.

My series is about to show „behind the scenes – images“ that could have developed during a studio product shoot.
Therefore I staged the products in several scenes into the frame. What I like most about this image is the fact, that you can see the front and the back of the cap at the same time thanks to the mirror.

For my photo series I wanted to show an authentic outdoor activity that combines a modern look and a rural setting. The model is actually part of the shepherd’s team and therefore truly represents a lifestyle that is based on outdoor activities. I aimed to spark the desire to go outside and exercise while emphasizing the functionality and style of CIELE sportswear.
The photograph of the model bending over very close to the animals head is my favorite out of the series, because it depicts a sincere bond between the model and the animal. It demonstrates that CIELE sportswear fits perfectly into any setting and represents a modern lifestyle that connects with nature.

We wanted to experiment with mirrors and reflection, simultaneously showing a product from different sides, keeping the background and surrounding area neutral and empty so as to pull the focus on the hat and its reflection.
We picked this photo because we really like how it presents the hat, we see different perspectives, the outside and inside at the same time. We also like how we were able to capture the hat mid-air, while also getting the reflection in the mirror right.

I am an Inline-skater and Sports-photographer, and this picture reflects for me: courage, dynamic, and precision. These are qualities that I look for in myself and the athletes that I photograph.
We really like working in the studio because you can control pretty much everything. From light to weather you can do everything as you want. Advertising should be graphical to us, something that steals the viewer’s attention and something that stays in memory. Especially regarding this flood of images that we get to see everyday. That is one of the most important points.
The photo in the club is our favorite picture because it has a calm and strong colorfulnes that connects the cap and the world. In this project we tried to present the hat outside of its original purpose and chose a place that suited the style of the hat for us. So the color, the movement, became an important topic for us and we found these properties in the environment of a fair.

My absolute favorite picture is the one of the model from behind using the prism. I love all the elements of the picture. I can feel the good mood from the shooting again and I like the color mood very much. In addition, the prism effect worked really well here. In my work I wanted to emphasize a positive feeling, the high of a runner. Through the prism I was able to add additional effects. It was incredibly fun to work with a new technique and with such great models.

My favourite picture is the one of the solo person on the beam. It reminds me of the times when we were young and looking for places to hang out at night and enjoyed places which had another function by day.
For this project i wanted to try something new and experimenting with another form of camera so i chose to pair the studio portraits with pictures taken with a wildlife camera.

ciele team voting
the entire team enjoyed going through the photos, and seeing the different perspectives and styles that the students brought into their work. in the end, the vote saw a two way tie for first for fabienne’s favourite image, and rahel’s favourite. jana and sophie’s images were a few close votes behind.
we’re thankful that our friend thomas reached out to us to be involved in the project, and sincerely appreciate the time, energy and creativity that all of the students brought to the table!
